Nitriding  Theory

Definition:  Nitriding is chemical heat treatment process that make active nitrogen atom into workpiece surface under certain temperature.

Purpose： Nitriding helps to improve hardness of workpiece surface, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue strength.

Gas  Nitriding:  It is nitriding process with gas medium, first, we put workpiece into HARDUN Series Gas Nitriding Furnace for heating, then we let in gas with nitrogen or organic liquid containing nitrogen, which produce active nitrogen atom after decomposition under high temperature, finally, nitrogen atom go into workpiece surface.

Compared with carburizing, nitriding has features listed below :

1. Nitriding layer has excellent hardness and wear resistance, workpiece surface do not

   need quenching after nitriding.

2. Low nitriding temperature and slight workpiece deformation.

3. Nitriding workpiece possess good corrosion-resistant ability, which can prevent vapour

    and alkaline solution corrosion.
